Medicare Supplement Plan N for IL

On June, 2010, Illinois Medigap Plan N became effective as part of two new standardized Medicare supplement plans for residents of Illinois. Medigap’s Plan N reduces your monthly premium, with similar benefits to Plan D. It is projected that this co-pay system for doctor and ER visits will be in effect after the Medicare Part B deductible is reached which will make lower premiums than Medigap Plan F premiums. Plan M and N will benefit many consumers and give real opportunities for its participants.

The new Medicare Supplement Plan N may interest those who are coming off group or a Medicare Advantage program. Since consumers on group or a Medicare Advantage are already experiencing a cost share healthcare plan this will be similar to their current plan. Also, there may be a small difference in Plan M and Plan N premiums compared to their group or Medicare Advantage plans premiums.
