Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) was founded in 1944 as part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Hampshire and Vermont. In the early 1980’s Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont separated from the New Hampshire plan. Over 300 Vermont residents are currently employed by BCBSVT. With more than 200,000 members, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont is the largest health insurance provider in the state.
BCBSVT provides affordable healthcare insurance to any individual, no matter their age, occupation, or health condition. Individual plans offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont include: The Vermont Health Plan (HMO), Prescription Drug Program, Vermont Freedom, Health Savings Account (HSA), and Better Beginnings.
Employer Sponsored Plans are also available for groups of any size. Employers can choose from three types of healthcare plans such as: traditional indemnity, preferred provider organization (PPO), and point of service (POS) plans. Federal employees can join many others and purchase the Federal Employees Program. This program offers access to your choice of 400,000 doctors, dentists, hospitals, and pharmacies across the nation. Members eligible for Medicare can receive the benefits of the Vermont Blue 65 plan. Each plan created by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont is designed to offer the best possible coverage for its customers at cost-efficient prices.
